@Flick @graf @phnt
> It’s very different to most of Fedi.
This isn't the actual problem with it.

@Tony @p @graf @Flick The keys are a problem. A problem that can be managed.
What can't be managed is the constant spam and the intentional inability to properly moderate the network coupled with how easy it is to spin up new keys. Nostr feels like if you made every spam email ever sent public and viewable on a timeline.
-
the stupid keys are the problem. It's just a huge pain in the ass to tag absolutely anyone.
The thought behind nostr is like walking a block down the road to the grocery store, but instead of walking, you decide to use a pogo stick.
-
@graf @Tony @p @Flick Well the people that bothered are also the ones that don't mind crypto address strings and such, so they managed to create their own niche which can be good or bad depending on the point of view.
Will it ever come out of its own niche "market" and become something more popular rivaling fedi? Zero chance because of its many flaws and the refusal to learn from past mistakes.
Heck, even mimicking something resembling a social media site sort of goes against what Nostr was supposed to be. Ditto is a hack to make a client-relay-client network seem more like a fedi instance with its own community.
-
@phnt @Tony @p @Flick Nobody is going to bother man. Nostr is a problem looking for a solution. Taking logins and passwords from users means you lose almost 100% of users right out of the gate. There isn't a person on earth that is going to download a password manager to log into a new "social media" site. Not happening. Stupid, incredibly stupid

@phnt @graf @Flick @Tony In general, I do not have much to say if we are discussing Nostr but I do want to test the MRF.

-
@dcc @Flick @Tony @graf @phnt I think it is working.
-
@dcc @Flick @Tony @graf @phnt Looks to me like it works: https://git.freespeechextremist.com/gitweb/?p=fse;a=blob;f=lib/site/mrf/hello_mostr.ex;h=87992f99b1bb9475a5154f1f7bc03101db6d9027;hb=362b670598a5b4882e5df8e14fa724df12d7eaf0
The MRF is just to make sure some of the posts federate, though. It doesn't do much besides send posts to the last mostr account to interact with FSE.

-
@dcc @Flick @Tony @graf @phnt The MRF is there to get mostr.pub to start fetching more posts and user accounts from FSE; that's where the trolling happens.
-
@p @Tony @phnt @1c96937f20d724b0396037665604ff6a867bcfbfc34d89bc9f8460243061bdd6 @graf @Flick Ah.... :alex_smile:
-
@dcc @Flick @Tony @graf @phnt Although you should check the newer version because I screwed it up and pushed a fix.
-
@i @1c96937f20d724b0396037665604ff6a867bcfbfc34d89bc9f8460243061bdd6 @Flick @Tony @dcc @graf @phnt Oh, I'm going the other direction: I'm sending unsolicited posts to mostr.pub.

@p @dcc @Tony @phnt @817148c3690155401b494580871fb0564a5faafb9454813ef295f2706bc93359 @graf @Flick it's just a shame the bridge isn't stable enough to act as a permanent firehose, works sorta fine to dragnet AP activities that pass over it, but requesting every single nostr post puts you in the rate limit bucket
