It's actually kind of a cool story. Skilled GMOD animator strikes it insanely big and actually capitalizes on it. FIrst video is silly, dumb, but HUGE
He's got big aspirations, wants to make cool stories and combat videos that he would want.
But what can you do? Your main anchor to get eyeballs (ergo funding) is a silly toilet video.
So screw it, use that foothold and just make the kind of art you want. Cool war storyline? Make it, too bad your only shot at fame is built on a talking head in the toilet, but you can make the best of it.
Before you know it all those kids are watching short vids of a thrilling, global war between....toilet-men and only slightly less dumb speaker/tv-men. Kids love giant battles, they want to recreate them at home, too, so you make some toys for them to play with.
At least that's what I think about skibidi toilet. I don't know how correct I am, but if I were in that position that's what I would do. He's 100x more successful using the skibidi slop video as a toehold to launch a series, because it is extremely identifiable, strong brand, property, eye grabbing, and ultimately worked beautifully.
But when you don't know all that it just looks like the dumbest Goddamned thing you've ever seen, eh?
