     Meanwhile, guys like Frank Zappa, ELP, and King Crimson existed.
     
     On a side note, the Rolling Stones were basically nigger-tier. Very little progession in most of their songs. Just the same fucking riff for five minutes. Sometimes quieter.

     Motown was proto-rap backing tracks though. It was just simple loops with little to no harmonic progression. And the singers, like James Brown, repeat the same shit over and over. "Get on up" isn't any different then "put your hands in the air" or "raise the roof."

     Motown was happening big when I was in grade school. It was all over AM airways in Los Angeles.
     
     Marvin Gaye was a favorite.
