   @sun LBRY was much the same, I felt. Rode in on promises of decentralization and user-ownership just to bootstrap its own brand.

     Bluesky works perfectly smoothly if you sign up entirely inside the infrastructure they control. If you use their alternative method so you can control your own data and identity, you can find pages of search results of people failing to get it work. I am sure that it's intentional that they provide a seeming method of avoiding centralization while in practice it's difficult or impossible to make it work.
