   I'm watching Poolboy jawing with Sam Seder over abortion. Seder keeps bringing up what appears to be his sole motivation: the safety and wellbeing of the mother.

   I ask, if the specter of an unplanned pregnancy is so dire that a baby may be killed to forestall this outcome, why are women and girls not viewing sex itself outside of marriage as potentially dangerous?

   It's just a flex. Women are THIS important. That's the message.

     The thalamocortical structure (the part of the brain necessary for consciousness), doesn't develop until the 26th week of pregnancy. Prior to that a fetus is no more a conscious living being than a haemorrhoid. Far less than 1% of abortions take place after that, and only in cases where there is abnormal fetal development and/or serious health risks to mother and baby.
