     @Dan_Hulson @OceanRedux @Jean_Philippe_Micheaux @billy_hughes @Jim DLC is not the same as microtransactions, though it can be almost as predatory. DLC you buy once, and then you’re done. If you have to buy it more than once because it gives you some limited boost, or it is random loot/gambling (like Planetside 2’s implant bullshit), then it is much more definitionally “microtransaction” to me.

     I don’t wanna think about the money I spent on retail WoW back in the day.

     None of it’s worth it. If you can’t buy it once and you’re done, or get it for free, it is not worth it. Fuck games as a service.

     @billy_hughes @Dan_Hulson @OceanRedux @Jean_Philippe_Micheaux @Jim The thing about “DLC” is since it’s usually one and done, you can pirate it pretty easily. MTX in MP games can not usually be so easily pirated (unless the game is on so little life support they aren’t checking, like the latter days of the old Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer where I gave myself 5 billion credits to buy everything without spending a cent).
