     I know I risk inciting hellthreads with this take, but it's hard to take this seriously when TRS (though perhaps not borzoi himself, at least not that I saw on fedi) has many times been at the forefront of mocking various forms of entertainment and culture as "lowbrow" or "degenerate" or "inappropriate", like vidya and anime, despite those being some of the last places you can find something other than goyslop.
     
     IDK, maybe it was all some esoteric, ironic ruse that long-tine listeners of the podcast saw through, maybe it was all some elaborate ploy by "haters", but every time I saw their takes being spread about cultural issues they were doing exactly the things he's complaining about here. :shrug:

     @Giganova8 People need to keep in mind that those guys have been immersed in the internet reactor for 10+ years, and that tends to wear on you as you accumulate trauma and nastiness. Same thing as kiwifarms’ unpaid social workers, actually. It’s like how the water in a nuke pool accumulates heavy metals and has to be flushed out, being an internet creators picks up toxins from seeing all kinds of shit and hashing out endless arguments.

     That’s why I just blow it off whenever old guys bitch about it, I know where they’re coming from because a whole lot of nasty stuff gets its roots in kids falling down the 2d rabbit hole. Futa penis, NTR, rape, toddlercon, all of it stems primarily from young kids blowing out a section of their brain early on in life and chasing a high they can’t feel anymore.

     Also the TRS guys are just…..a little too young or inexperienced to be statesman. Maybe in time they’ll give out more measured, diplomatic takes, but they’re still locked into the mindset of being podcaster/youtubers more than men of history. It’s a metamorphosis that will take some time, converting their habits away from the low-brow drama pool of internet slapfights and into the high-minded diplomacy required to make as few enemies as possible with every statement.

     To clarify, what gets to me is that they propagated the very attitudes complained about here every time they complained about something being degenerate or worthless or otherwise inappropriate to be defended. Like it or not, all of that "worthless, degenerate garbage" is part of modern culture now, and sticking your heads in the sand and pretending like it'll all go away if you just ignore it hard enough is exactly why entertainment is full of trannies and niggers now. We should be confronting this shit directly and creating direct competitors to the trash, not claiming that the arts are somehow worthless as a whole.
     
     It's not really their fault either, honestly they're just repeating a far vaster and older psyop, cause this shit predates their whole show by at least a couple decades, cause you can see traces of these ideas dating all the way back to the D&D "Satanic Panic" and the subsequent moralizing nonsense that whole movement spawned. :akko_weary:

     @Giganova8 That’s why I’m always hoping they kinda grow out of their current frame. They need to look wider and see things with a greater field of view. So does everyone else, but they’re the ones aiming to control the greatest throne of power ever seen on earth.

     Guys on the ground have to be candid with ourselves though - there’s a tremendous about of carnality and evil that we’ve gotten from anime and video games, countless life-hours of our people burned on the altar of hedonism, so we do ourselves no favors by pretending we aren’t addicted to their pleasures. I don’t insist we quit, but I do insist we don’t lie to ourselves about our bad habits, lest we lose any hope of beating them.

     I’d actually not prefer for them to foster a “make your own culture!” ideal….anything coming out of that pool would suck more than it’s worth. Just look at all that ‘comicsgate’ shit, it’s lackluster at best, and so cringe-inducing at worst you’ll turn inside out. At best they could be agnostic about making it, and try to signal boost the gems that arise, but they’ll probably always hate the jap 2d artstyle because it’s “unserious”, or because it’s like a gravity projector to create an autism vortex.

     Yeah, honestly this is just a pertinent example of something that plagues all RW groups, not just them. Hell, you can even see it in the more "mainstream" stuff like with Walsh having a hissy fit about anime not too long ago.
     
     It's just frustrating to watch the only group that isn't violently opposed to my very existence continually fall for incredibly basic tricks and misdirections when people have been screaming at them to stop for a long damn time now, especially when it's the same trick over and over. :awoo_tired:

     Oh I don't pretend that anything I engage in is some well of purity and righteousness (or even good at all), but I also recognize that we're in too deep to just quit cold turkey. Like I said, this shit is in the culture now, it's not gonna leave on its own, and the only ways through are to either accept that, or create your own parallel culture, and both approaches have their problems. But we can't keep doing this game of "ignore the problem then wonder why mentally ill freaks control 90+% of cultural output". :akko_weary:

     @Giganova8 Yeah, I’m very tapped into them (didn’t hear about who they were until I came on poast in 21 actually, so all the drama goes right over my head) so all I can do is hope for the best. It’s a young-ish organization, only time will tell if they sink or swim. The fact they’re married & having kids bodes well, actually, that helps bridge the generational gap w/ the right conditions

     I'm probably a bit more soured than others might be, cause I remember running into them all the way back on 4/pol/ when I was still stumbling my way into this sphere (like 2014 or something, a long time ago), and they shilled relentlessly. I can't remember details of all the drama from that time, and I don't want to speculate, but it was all very gay and I honestly thought they were different groups for a while cause they seemed so much less obnoxious here on fedi. :yui_shrug:

     The problem isn't just the "lefties gravitate to media" issue, it's also the "lefties are overwhelmingly drawn to publicly funded institutions" issue.
     
     The first one I don't see as big of a deal because it's already changing, anti-left types are becoming increasingly involved in media production and I see a bright future for films and games full of all kinds of wrongthink.
     
     The second problem is systemic and cannot be avoided, it's built into the structure of such institutions that their anti-competitive "safe" status and committee driven decisionmaking process will attract the worst people. The only answer is to have as few such institutions as possible and to make them as vulnerable to community backlash as possible.
     
     As to what to do about it? Concentrate our numbers, build parallel economies and make big public institutions and big public funding mechanisms matter as little as possible.

     To be fair colleges are an absolute cell pool now.
     
     I graduated but finished my degree online, used chegg.com to cheat my way through it (retardeds posted the answers from chegg courses like actually used chegg to make their tests). I have a business degree and even in that, the courses are so liberal it makes me want to puke. When you have teachers who will literally fail your exam if you don't take certain sides.
