"Let's steal back from AI art!"
>they fail to steal anything
>they fail to make the art better
is there any hope for artoids at this point? :hoshino_stare:
- luithe, 🛡 ⚔️ McCreeaboo ⚔️ 🛡 and :gura_sus: 1e+6 litres :flag_china: and 2 others like this.
-
@ehhh no, they will forever be ebeggers
-
@ehhh Once again only bad artists are affected by AI
-
@poopernova @ehhh
they arent effected because they never had a market in the first place :clownpiece_smug:
-
@poopernova I didn't even think that these artists in the examples that I've shown were necessarily bad in their techniques, but they're trying to cope that they HAVE to be better than a robot just because they breathe.
-
@Suzu @ehhh @luithe it's stealing because the amount of money they get in their patreon accounts from furries asking for OC of their fursonas in diapers goes down
-
@s8n @ehhh @luithe IDK. It's as much "stealing" as a guy who learns good patterns from looking at shit other people draw, and then uses what he learned on his art (I think the young'uns call it "inspiration").
As long as the AI doesn't blatantly copy someone's art, it's not "stealing".
-
@luithe i actually talked to a friend (who's an artist and hates AI) about this, i explained to them how the technology works and how the machine learns to generate good looking pictures based off the images that it analyzes, and what the user expects for it to return back. The AI does not need to use a single clump of pixels from the images that it's fed. It quite literally learns to create an image by recognizing patterns. Basic machine learning.
So his argument, is that what I'm saying is bullshit and that it has been debunked or something and that it is in fact stealing.
I asked him 'how so?' He never answered. 🤷♂️
-
@ehhh @luithe I can tell you how it's stealing if you don't understand and want to know
-
@s8n @Suzu @ehhh @luithe "noooo I won't make as much money drawing pokemon taking it in the ass"
-
@PurpCat @Suzu @ehhh @luithe I love this fuckin meme so much
-
@PurpCat @Suzu @ehhh @luithe they know that now we only need one artist to draw scenes like this and it will be an artist better than them
-
@ehhh @luithe Ai Derangement Syndrome - AiDS.
They don't realize that they can use it as a rapid prototyping tool to work faster.
I hear about other artists embracing it by training their own model on their artwork so they can use it as a shotgun for poses and whatnot.
-
@Suzu @s8n @luithe that's how I understood that it's bullshit at first, when i'm not even a CS major or anything. I have never seen an AI piece that was a blatant plagiarism of an existing work, because who would use AI just to recreate something that already exists?
-
@ehhh @luithe @s8n the true complaint about AI art boils down to "it is stealing our jobs". You know, that thing blue collar workers complain since the start of the industrial revolution, and that the artistic class always laughed at their face about.
Now that the shoe is on the other foot, it's not as funny, but they realized pretty soon that just going "they are stealing our jobs" would give them nothing but scorn and mockery. So they are trying for that angle of "it's stealing", "big corpos are stealing our intellectual property" and "if you use AI you are stealing from artists", in a bid to shame people into not using it and hoping it loses traction.
I see this in the "creators sphere". Now that I returned to Warframe, I started watching some videos to get up to speed with the current "meta" and stuff you can do in game, and I stumbled into "creator drama". Basically people fighting because so and so dude makes "bad builds", or someone stole a build from someone else, or so and so are horny on main and that's apparently not good because unless you are a faggot you need to be a prude, but something that attracted my attention was that some guys were target of drama because they "use AI art on their thumbnails, and that's not cool, you should pay an artist to make it for you". And I mean, wtf, what's the point of it? Why do you care so much if I paid an artist to draw Yareli in a bikini or if I just generated it with AI? And I bet other content creators for other stuff must have the same kind of drama.
-
@Spooke @luithe Oh, that's pretty neat. Too bad they're probably gonna get thrown under the bus because of envious losers anyway.
-
@Spooke @ehhh @luithe I have it doing things like automatically cutting backgrounds out and making them transparent while preserving borders and shadows, finding and returning only the heads and faces from an image, recoloring things more cleanly than filters or hue changes can, etc
-
@Suzu @luithe @s8n that's fucking bullshit lmfao, you have to be some miserable fuckwit to target someone because their 100 x 300 px thumbnail was drawn by a robot 🤣🤣:guraKekw:
-
@ehhh Honestly, I think they're using AI in the correct way. They're just framing it in such an annoying way that you can't help but want them to get obliterated for being annoying.
