Incidentally, since the wheels are slowly falling off the Pleroma bus, I need to migrate to something new in the very near future. Looking at the alternatives, though, I'm not too thrilled at what I've got to work with.
Mastodon is right out, of course. Moving to a fresh Pleroma install is just kicking the can down the road. There's Akkoma, but it reeks of trannies, and there's Rebased, but it reeks of Gleason.
Misskey is a little too out-there for me, and GNUSocial... well, I'm not sure I have what it takes to handle that.
At this point, I'm thinking I might as well just set myself up on a Mitra instance. Yes it's technically still in heavy development, and it doesn't have most of the bells and whistles of Pleroma, but I'm not sure I really need them. Emoji Reacts are nice and all, but all I really need is Posts, Images, Likes, and Reposts. Everything else is just cruft in the end.

@icedquinn My problem is this, because I'm interpreting it as "we reserve the right to hardcode domain blocks like Tusky did".
I'm not going near any project that even insinuates that kind of stance.

@JapanAnon pleroma was already made largely by :blobcattrans: though so i'm not sure what the problem with akkoma is

@icedquinn @JapanAnon Most people's dislike for trannies comes from when they act like jannies. Pleroma trannies like to post about lain and are generally unobtrusive for an end user, so people don't care if they want to be the little girl. Akkoma trannies may be of a different temperament, so I understand his reluctance.

@Oozeman @icedquinn This is, in fact, the case. I'd just rather not get settled into a new instance only to find out the next update automatically blackholes Bad-Instance-Of-The-Month and there's nothing I can do about it.
The only winning move in this game is not to play.
