There wouldn't have been nearly enough attention given to the DIE FEMA hurricane aftermath in Appalachia as the jannies suppress "misinformation," among other things. Just preventing people who are 100% opposed to us from having a social media monopoly limits so much of what they can do in terms of narrative control. -

Twitter is still way more influential than Fedi and reaches way more people. And I don't even really buy that Elon is "burning" the site down, since the whole point was to have a major social media outlet to influence the election. Network effects make it really hard to kill a site like Twitter, no matter how much people bitch about it. It's fine for people like us to stay on Fedi, and under Elon it's than much easier for our content to trickle down and encourage others to check out Fedi. Any fracturing and competition among the elites gives us more freedom and room to work. -

It would have been much better in the long run if these tech giants died a stagnant death while alternatives kept growing.
That being said, Elon may inadvertently help kill xitter because everyone looks at that site like the plague now, and that sorta accomplishes the long term strategy of burning social media down, just in a really money-inefficient way. -

Exactly.
Even the most retarded journos notice that bluesky or their anti-freeze peach fedi instances are circlejerks.
They can block any dissent, but there's much less engagement.Ardainian Hebrew Israelite likes this. -

But all of that aside it’s good that Musk’s opened things up a fair bit (for now...) as it allows more frens to get redpilled and both retarded Leftoids and MIGAts to sperg lmao Ardainian Hebrew Israelite likes this. -

I don't want to deal with normie strangers who deserve it, I want to talk to normie familiars who don't deserve it but are too gosh-darn stupid to understand what's wrong with using them.

yeah thats partially what I mean though. Elon opening Twitter back up meant that fedi *lost* any real network effect which is a net negative. I can't be 100% certain, but I have a hunch that big name sites being more restrictive (requiring phone #s, shadowbanning, alt-banning) is actually more beneficial in the long term because it allows a larger market for actual solutions, rather than your own right to speech switching hands between billionaires on a whim. If Elon can buy your freedom, half a dozen other powerful men can buy it back.
It's like discord. Life would be way better if people actually used other software for communication and group chats but because they're not popular now, the only way to make them popular is for discord to fall. -
