@sun @jeffcliff @icedquinn @silverpill @nimda before i go, i'll just say that it could be just a poor choice of wording... the 'property' "anonymous", seems to be about a particular way of sharing resources under a system called CORS (Cross Origin Resource Sharing). Basically using "anonymous" may skimp on providing identifiers that are even more revealing that the origin-domain (or origin-page in a non-tor browser), and (also in a non-tor browser) a viewers ip address, lol. Again, i suspect the word "anonymous" may be a poor choice for whatever its doing.
in my search ive not been able to find a decent resource yet that properly explains the CORS method of resource sharing. wasted enough time for today. do chime in if you have info though.
on a more serious note, do we need to formalize a standard method of adopting ipfs for resource sharing???
with fastly now quickly taking over our glorious :butterfedyC: fediverse (mastodon.social, mastodon.online, fosstodon, infosec.exchange) there has never been a more urgent a time to move forward with an ipfs method than right now, i would like to recommend that if a fedi persona likes or shares a post then that persona ought share that resource over ipfs, if they have the ipfs addon/server software active. This ipfs system needs to have provisions to exclusively connect over i2p or tor depending on which type of browser it is added to, a browser that appears to connect through i2p, should use i2p and create an i2p address automatically. if the browser is tor, create a tor address etc.
just spitballing here of course, i'm no expert on ipfs or activity pub. i do sense that something that can decentralize the content delivery, with as low a latency as possible, and with zero messing around for the end user, beyond installing an addon, and ipfs node software, as of growing critical importance for the health of not just fedi, but really the entire internet.
