I just fixed a FM towns by swapping out the CD drive from one with a bad PSU (and who knows what else, I'll tear it down some other day) and I've got a HDD cage I need to mount with some more cardboard. I literally had to tape it with cardboard that's not a joke.
The good news is some madlad from Japan whose other accomplishments include "writing a freeware flight sim" and "writing a FM Towns emulator that's FOSS" wrote a driver to let you use an external SCSI drive.
@Giganova8 >I wish we could have the old internet back. No monetization, no clout, no faggots or politics, just "post cute girl" and "play fun game" starts with us, friend :holo_pat:
Oh and the reason I mentioned that too, to even use an external CD drive you need to literally have one that just functions enough to power on and tell the system the drive is there. otherwise POST crashes.
Even if you bypass it on some models that let you force booting, you'll hit another wall: io.sys will crash if there is no drive.
it has sega arcade ports and some other arcade ports and some porn visual novels all on one platform. I also got an X68000 as well I need to PSU replace.
@PhenomX6@Giganova8 i've never heard of FM Towns, but >first-in-the world computer that had a CD-ROM drive as a standard equipment is quite the feat! sounds like a historic piece of hardware :holo_excited:
The internet - and the world - would be a better place if, every time someone felt the need to bitch and whine about some sociopolitical nonsense, or be a nigger to others, they just posted Miku butt instead :slap:
