   This is why I like Rochefort teaching young dudes to just lie. Make sure your time is used effectively when applying at the kinds of places w/ vulnerable hiring (i.e. ones with a lot of human involvement to get past auto filters) and then just lie your ass off.

   Look up old work from the company and talk about how you liked the way they handled some crisis from 5 years back. Mention that someone who worked for them told you to apply a while back. Be confident, talk about your last job being similar.

   Everyone else is faking it, don’t feel like you owe honesty to anybody. If you’re caught out just say you’re desperate and willing to do ANYTHING to just get a chance

     In this vein, look up those talks about security testing at those black hat conferences. Learn the tradecraft of a con man. Learn how to walk into restricted areas with a head nod and a fake flash of the badge. Learn to belong wherever you are.

     It’s THAT kind of attitude you need in order to pass the experienced guy sniff test as “yeah, this kid’s done all this kind o’ stuff before, he’ll be good”

     @pyrate I know a guy who just applied for a job and only gave one reference (me) with a cover letter saying “I’m currently employed and it’s not a good look to be announcing my departure, so this is all I will give you”

     AFAIK he got it
