It's one thing if the largely unsuspect user gets outed as a pedophile (see g117ch situation), and another when the open chomos from chomo instances migrate to your premises with the same usernames and habits. You do you, of course, but it's only a matter of time until one of them spergs out and starts posting jailbait. That's just an ample warning, I've seen it happen several times in long-gone communities.

Of course there's no way to tell that if they practice basic opsec and don't immediately go on tirades about sex with children, but if they do and I do nothing about that, I shouldn't be much surprised if others start labeling my instance as a harbor for pedophiles.   my problem with this line of reasoning is that there's really not that big a difference to explicitly prohibiting too, you're positing the existence of a bad actor that doesn't care about the instance regardless
  
  if i put up a sign that says "no grooming", is no grooming happening? personally it just feels to me like people only want the secret pedophiles to join their instance

There is one user on rot that I follow and that doesn't exercise such sentiment, so media stripping for the whole instance is a bad option. Full deactivation breaks threads and so is reserved only for the worst offenders (such as pawooners with CSEM on their avatars). I might enable TagPolicy, but it's bad for transparency, so I'll reserve the judgment for today.

  i really would disagree with the notion that people talking about it leads itself to harm. should i push them all to their own secret matrix rooms where they can presumably plan how to cause harm with no public scrutiny?
