     @Moon Could probably write a bunch about how americans don’t DO, but BE. Their identity is personal branding, much in the way they don’t play a sport or enjoy a hobby, but become an X-er. They like saying “I’m a skater” instead of “I like skating”.

     Along that line, you putting on the vestments of their brand is stealing a portion of their uniqueness. They don’t like having a part of their club taken by someone who didn’t “earn” their chit, and that’s multiplied by those who rest their identity upon the faux struggle of being some minority.

     When you’re abroad, they love seeing you adopt their customs, because they don’t feel threatened by you ‘taking’ a portion of a universal aspect of belonging. We wouldn’t feel offended at a dog wearing a cowboy hat….but maybe if he were wearing a medal of honor?

     @WashedOutGundamPilot no I get you and have made.similar observation, Japanese don't feel threatened but (some) asian Americans do, for. Variety of reasons, some of them rational.

     @xue the reason that's irrelevant is you can have a picture of a kid on the internet a little white girl wearing a kimono and people.will.losemtheir shit even if the kids in Japan, then later find out the kids half Japanese.      I mean, its kinda obvious, those people are in two distinct regions of the world and are exposed to the different culture where they live, all those things were reasons which created culture in the first palce

     @mia @Moon Howdy, my name is Rawhide Kobayashi. I'm a 27 year old Japanese Japamerican (western culture fan for you foreigners). I brand and wrangle cattle on my ranch, and spend my days perfecting the craft and enjoying superior American passtimes. (Barbeque, Rodeo, Fireworks) I train with my branding iron every day, this superior weapon can permanently leave my ranch embled on a cattle's hide because it is white-hot, and is vastly superior to any other method of livestock marking. I earned my branding license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day. I speak English fluently, both Texas and Oklahoma dialect, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about American history and their cowboy code, which I follow 100% When I get my American visa, I am moving to Dallas to work in an oil field to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become a cattle wrangler for the Double Cross Ranch or an oil rig operator for Exxon-Mobil! I own several cowboy hats, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to America, so I can fit in easier. I rebel against my elders and seniors and speak English as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond. Wish me luck in America!
