Those CRT shaders in all the emulators annoy me. If I want a CRT look, I just play on a CRT.
But I make an exception for handheld games.
Playing a DS game with fake CRT shaders is so stupid it wraps hack around to brilliant

@kawa you don't have any computers with VGA out? or an HDMI to VGA adapter?
@foone Hey now not everyone has a CRT monitor laying around.
I know I don't, and if I did I wouldn't have any means to connect it to my computer.
@foone Third option (which I'm not going to do, but do want to point out is an option): playing old games with Snes9x-style scaling algorithms - maybe even with vanilla Kega Fusion - as a kind of counter-nostalgia out of spite.
@blaurascon @Doridian oh yeah, that video is great
@foone Now the real question no one asked becomes: How small could someone build a DS with two tiny CRTs and one of them a touchscreen.
Could it be made actually handheld? Probably honestly...
@Doridian @foone there was a video recently where someone modded a game boy to use a crt, and it worked.. sorta? it obliterated batteries though.
i'd be very curious to see a DS done like this. bonus points if it can still fold
(warning for the most unhinged hardware modding i have ever seen)
@blaurascon @Doridian it reminds me that I STILL need to build that CRT smartphone I've been threatening for years
@foone No and no.
@kawa I don't know how you live your life
