     There is a sad parallel to the Ukraine deciding to go 'all in' against an opponent it had literally no chance of defeating, driven by sheer hatred of all things Russian and not much sanity at the helm. At least both play-pretend "countries" can offer the excuse that they expected to be backed to the hilt by NATO (the US), not understanding that their golem is already crumbling and falling apart

     Invading Iran is absolutely the kind of thing that could sink GAE. US military doesn't have the manpower, and bringing back the draft would be a trainwreck. Iran might be internally divided, but a foreign invasion would bring them together pretty quickly, as secular Persian nationalists are no more interested than the Islamist Boomer in being conquered by a foreign power. Iran is too mountainous for troops to make easy progress, and just bombing them can only do so much against fortifications.
