Who has two thumbs and just got Markdown working in Kitten?
w00t! :kitten:🎉
Bonus: you can use components inside Markdown tags :)
PS. This is not in main yet (https://codeberg.org/kitten/app).

“A parapgraph”
🤦♂️ 🤣
@smallcircles Thanks :) Looking forward to seeing how it improves the authoring experience.
I think I’m done with major syntax changes / HTML extensions for the time being :)
@aral congratulations! This may be a case where 1 + 2 = 4 .. sum greater than individual parts 😊
@Toasterson Ish? :)
I’m not hugely familiar with mdx apart from knowing it exists and is for JSX.
From what I’ve seen mdx takes a markdown-first approach. Kitten takes an HTML/CSS/JS-first approach that you can extend with things… that now includes markdown.
In terms of what you can do with it, yeah, I think they’re somewhat equivalent.
(But I’ve only just implemented it so I haven’t really started using it myself yet so we’ll see how it ends up being used in practice.) :)
@aral So MDX like?
@RyunoKi Using markdown-it.
PS. it’s not that much of a feature because you include Markdown in HTML tagged templates in Kitten so you could have done…
<markdown>
Some markdown
</markdown>
<${MyComponent> />
<markdown>
Some more markdown
</markdown>
… even if they didn’t work but it’s nice that they do ;)
@aral
Hm, I wonder which Markdown flavour you went with.
Components inside Markdown as in MDX?
@RyunoKi @Toasterson Same idea, yes. But I have more control over syntax as I control the templating :)
@aral
That sounds more like https://revealjs.com/markdown/
@Toasterson @RyunoKi It is. I use it indirectly for my presentations via slides.com (a neat web interface by the author) :)
@RyunoKi @aral This is nice! Was looking for a presentation fraemwork like that.
@RyunoKi (What’s more exciting is that it means that interpolations in general work in Markdown sections too. Which is *very* useful.) :)
@RyunoKi PS. That link is 404 for me :)
@aral
ish.
@RyunoKi @eleventy Yeah, Zach’s doing some great work with that :)
@aral
Ohhh!
@eleventy is betting on the same!
Should open up plenty of research if you want to see how others pushed the boundaries!
@RyunoKi Aha, that one works ;)
@aral
Bummer.
For me, it works _sometimes_ (depending on how I navigate to it).
