Can someone explain to me why retroarch is seemingly hated by the entire emulation development scene?
I'm not too deep in emulation drama so idk what is it about that project that makes people go anal
- luithe repeated this.

@Meemoo My only experiance was giving a review to the PPSSPP portion on Steam with the caveat of using it on it’s own (not in Retroarc), and having some Japanese guy get grumpy at me for using the “trannylation” of CCC instead of just learning a whole other fucking language to play it lol (I say when my fren at least in part did just that years back)

@Witch_Hunter_Siegfired I doubt he was Japanese
It's always larpers throwing a hissy fit over stuff like that :kekw:

@Meemoo I'm not too sure about the drama side of things, but generally they act superior to everyone else despite only really making a frontend for emulators and maintaining a few legacy ones. They also can't keep their team consistent and have constant in-fighting over people creating and removing projects unapproved by the others. Retroarch being added to steam for example had quite a bit of in-fighting as people weren't all in agreement over doing it.
It's also often behind on updates, leading to complaints towards emulator devs on problems that have been fixed.

@AommAomm @Meemoo Oh the actual updates tend to be consistent since it's just pulling the updates for emulators at the time. It can just take a while for more modern rolling release emulators to get their updates, and the in-fighting is more for when they try new things.

@Iffine @Meemoo I use retro arc, I only use to for light weight emulation like n64 and gameboy, things like that but Ive never had any issues or saw conflicting messages in the update notes.
