@monkyyy I remember in early 2020 when the American media was saying that coronavirus wasn't a big deal and that you should hug a Chinaman to prove you're not racist. that got memory-holed FAST.
@noyoushutthefuckupdad@monkyyy IDC about what the actual stuff is I use outdated propaganda to gaslight and pychologically torture the people who bother me
@WashedOutGundamPilot@monkyyy here are 2013 and 2015 studies indicating that flimsy cloth masks are ineffective at stopping the spread of flu viruses and might even make them worse.
@noyoushutthefuckupdad@jeffcliff@monkyyy At the time I was working somewhere with a bunch of chinks/koreans coming over. It was the first few months of the whole affair, so only chizos had any concern over it. I had to take a test and sat in cramped desks with a dozen hacking asians, pissed that I hadn't brought my mask with me
But before the media got on it most places would make you take it off, esp. if it was anything better than a paper towel. I had my dust breather I tried to use around the chinks, it was always a pain getting in if there's a desk/locked door
@jeffcliff@WashedOutGundamPilot@monkyyy wearing one of these is much more reasonable than the worthless cloth masks that everyone did wear during the lockdowns.
@WashedOutGundamPilot@monkyyy@jeffcliff@noyoushutthefuckupdad Early on I went to get checked because my work was panicking after I found out I'd had a close contact. Most sites needed a GP referral for whatever reason (capacity?), my GP did an informal note instead of following the rapidly-changing procedure so I got turned away from a few places and ended up doing a lap of town before giving up and telling my boss I did all I could. I wore a dual cartridge respirator and the testing places demanded I replace it with one of their silly surgical masks lol. Fun times.
@jeffcliff@birdulon@monkyyy@noyoushutthefuckupdad I don't think I ever had covid, despite traveling, working with all kinds of strange foreigners from "hot spots" around the east. Never got sick for more than 2-3 days tops, and never had the oddball symptoms everyone talks about, so it's more likely they were garden variety sicknesses from the cold/flu family.
I never took a test either.
Oh, but I DID tell my job I had "covid", spent the time lounging around at home to enjoy time w/ family, so overall I got something out of all this silliness.
