nikiboo (the retvrn) (nikiboo@strelizia.net)'s status on Friday, 30-Aug-2024 04:41:55 JST nikiboo (the retvrn) everything ive seen and heard about GTA6 so far has been either mixed or bad and the most damning thing so far is that the rockstar devs are worried about review bombing - luithe likes this.

nikiboo (the retvrn) (nikiboo@strelizia.net)'s status on Friday, 30-Aug-2024 04:43:10 JST nikiboo (the retvrn) @Iffine from what ive heard the gpu is supposed to be a step up people say it will be a 3070 equivalent i imagine it might see a small upgrade to CPU and shared ram tho i doubt it but its gonna be 700$ we know that for sure so its pretty much at the barrier between what i consider to entry and mid range pc which is insane for a console -
Dunkag (iffine@varishangout.net)'s status on Friday, 30-Aug-2024 04:43:10 JST Dunkag @nikiboo I mean that GPU jump would be a worthwhile step up for the system, but only if it were a PC. The whole point of consoles is standardization and easier optimization since every single system is the same. The system can run on lower specs than PCs end up seeing for a longer time because of this consistency and knowledge of the exact system. The end user will end up seeing none of that benefit from the new GPU until the very end of the current power situation in gaming, which is currently looking like it'll take a long time to go away. Otherwise they could hook the thing up to an 8k 100hz monitor, a proposition so expensive you'd end up buying a gaming PC instead at that point.
Even then, at a $700 price point, you can start building a PC that will last you a good long while yeah.luithe likes this. -
Dunkag (iffine@varishangout.net)'s status on Friday, 30-Aug-2024 04:43:11 JST Dunkag @nikiboo I'm getting distracted from the GTA part of this because of the idea of a PS5 pro even existing. If Sony actually announces a PS5 pro, but at the same time doesn't cut costs on the base PS5, they're asking for a world of hurt in sales. The thing isn't outdated yet, it's not going to be outdated for at least another half a decade, maybe more; GPU technology isn't advancing at all right now, CPU technology hardly needs more power outside of games with no optimization, and the SSD getting faster would be a negligible difference at best.
As for the GTA part, GTA VI will not be impressive enough to need a new powerhouse to look nice. -
