@Monsignor_DickFace @Kagekokoro @ins0mniak I used to actually actively keep up with “Is It A Good Idea To Microwave This?” back in the day.
I even downloaded some of the older seasons I hadn’t seen from YouTube with the Firefox plugin DownloadHelper, converted them to WMV using the tool Any Video Converter, and watched them on my Sony Walkman that had a 2” 320x240 screen.
Those were simpler times. You could also torrent without a care in the world because DMCA wasn’t a thing yet. And while smartphones (mainly talking about iPhone and Android) were a thing, most people didn’t have them (I was still rocking a Motorola RAZR) and Blackberry was still going strong.
The internet wasn’t a shithole. Most Boomers weren’t online, zoomers weren’t really old enough to get online, Google wasn’t doing evil, aXXo was still releasing movies, and it was around the time I first learnt about 4chan. Man I miss the old internet.
I know we’ll never get it back. However, one of the reasons I love fedi is that it reminds me a lot of the old internet.
