     @deprecated_ii I was just arguing w/ an old man today that we'd actually be well off to lose some people again. We went overboard w/ fatalities and pushing the tech envelope in the cold war but we've gone to the opposite extreme today

     @JuicyGothMommyFeet @deprecated_ii There ain't many but there are still a few holdouts of heroism out there. A young bushpilot braving a harsh storm to bring a fair maiden to town for emergent surgery, a coast guard boy jumping out of a speedboat to board a narco sub full of hostiles.

     Most of our heroism is small scale today, men fighting unsung battles for those rare cases that deserve it. When I read citations for modern combat awards it really drives home that nobody there is really fighting for the empire, just their buddies beside them. It's a dynamic ZOG exploits to our continued detriment. But maybe we'll see the rise of something deserving of our blood once again

     I still think a lot about that ww2 battle you mentioned where a handful of American vessels that were the naval equivalent of go-karts succesfully bluffed a Jap mega-fleet with the biggest warships in the world. There's no grit like that today, partially because America doesn't deserve it any more. When both conservatives and liberals spent decades pushing soul-castrated "servant leadership" on men then there's a lot of incentive for independent minded men to just shrug their shoulders and do their own thing. Men take risks for communities and institutions that are worth it.
