I like the term "Luxury Beliefs." That is, beliefs the well off have that they think will make the world better (defund the police, universal basic income, etc.) that actually make things horrifically worse for the people they think would benefit.
People like to dismiss IQ, saying the scores don't matter, ignoring they're tightly correlated with nearly everything. If some kid has an IQ of 70 at age 6 .. okay, if he has really good parents and the best tutoring than MAYBE, he'll score a 76 by age 13. But he will **never** score a 90. He will never be an accountant. There always need to be jobs in a washing machine factory or a cutting tickets at a movie theater for those people, so they have value (and those jobs just keep going away).
My bike was stolen a few weeks ago and I was going to pawn shops seeing if anyone had sold it off. There was this guy and I guess his grandma at the counter, and the woman had to explain multiple times how to use a PS4 he was buying ... what cable you plug in, how you need to charge the controller, how it's wireless but only after you charge it, which cable plugs into what ....
There was a time when smart and dumb people both worked at the stables or the blacksmiths shop, and everyone saw everyone else for who they were. Most people are segregated a lot by their intelligence now more than ever.
UBI will be way less like Star Trek and a lot more like The Expanse.
