@Metamedia @orangelantern Even if you want to get into ANCIENT Scandinavia its social system, religion and culture bear no fucking resemblance at all to what Nazis advocate.
But the power of imagination and the need to cope is a powerful force. Consider Varg Vikernes - despite his personal convictions and his reputation, I actually think he's one of the people who best understands ancient Scandinavia, his book on sorcery in that civilization is absolutely seminal. He truly *gets* Seiðr. But then on the next page he argues that gay people were thrown into pits(????)

@hermit @orangelantern tbh the bit of the argument that I find fascinating, is more the fact that there's always this claimed Scandinavian heritage - that should be at the base of "western values" and hence support all the bad things we now about. However, (modern) Scandinavia was pretty isolated 1600 years ago, and this melting pot of Greek, Aryan and Scandinavian culture doesn't make any historical sense whatsoever
