Those who settled it passed on an appreciation that doesn't stick for anyone else. They'll look off the back porch and see sand & sage with a satisfied smile, because it's the lands their grandfathers fought, sweat, and bled for.

John Rando (john_rando@poa.st)'s status on Sunday, 11-Aug-2024 12:00:00 JST John Rando @WashedOutGundamPilot @Eternal_Iratus @Paultron @vriska I liked what I saw driving across the southwest when I left California for good. I kinda wish I had taken it slower and visited some of the places I passed by, like Meteor Crater.

There are places that feel like home to me, in a way that doesn't really hit anywhere else.
It's like taking a malamute down to new mexico. He can live and enjoy the winter weather but he doesn't know what "right" feels like
