     @Paultron @vriska Unpopular opinion: The majority of the Western US (execluding the Pacific Northwest and a few other spots) is pretty bleak and depressing, you have go out of your way to see the beautiful parts of it.

     @Paultron have only ever been to Phoenix and Flagstaff here but I like arizona. wanna see more of it someday

     @vriska the phoenix- albuquerque drive is real pretty. stark and lonely. i used to live around the latter place and have many fond memories of it despite its problems

     @Eternal_Iratus @Paultron @vriska Only 'cause you don't belong, it's not in your blood. Those who settled it passed on an appreciation that doesn't stick for anyone else. They'll look off the back porch and see sand & sage with a satisfied smile, because it's the lands their grandfathers fought, sweat, and bled for.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @Eternal_Iratus @Paultron @vriska I liked what I saw driving across the southwest when I left California for good. I kinda wish I had taken it slower and visited some of the places I passed by, like Meteor Crater.

     @Paultron @john_rando @Eternal_Iratus @vriska Of course, but we often lose the fact that the spirit is tied to the land too. There are places that feel like home to me, in a way that doesn't really hit anywhere else.

     It's like taking a malamute down to new mexico. He can live and enjoy the winter weather but he doesn't know what "right" feels like

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @Paultron @vriska There's not really much of a difference between the whites who settled here during the westward expansion and the whites who moved here later on in the mid-late 20th century, both are the same types of opportunists from the same areas (various parts of the midwest and the east coast).

     @Eternal_Iratus @Paultron @vriska Yeah my family literally killed at least a dozen people for our slice of the pie over a century or so, that's a very different evolutionary buy-in than showing up when they built a train
