Guys in case your parents were dogshit it's good practice to watch everything BEFORE you let your kids see it.
Livestreamed things aimed at a horny male adult audience are NOT good for your child. They are a sponge. We have a shot at giving them the purity of mind that was denied to us. Let them read books, watch GOOD, QUALITY things with wholesome messaging, and shore up their psychic defenses before letting them see brainrot.
This is utterly crazy to me, the equivalent of having a kid in class listen to howard stern in the 90s
You hate it as a kid but you appreciate it later when you see how messed up the other kids are.
It's GOOD to hear your parents chuckling and then be told "oh we'll explain it when you're older, it's gross", it means your parents actually give a shit about your soul.
It's fun as a kid to work your way up and be given cooler things, earn your way upward
@vic Your kids only get ridiculed if they're weird. Make them smart, make them funny, and they'll be fine. Weirdness is something that has to fester, it's worsened by inattentive parents.
When my bro started developing a weird affect dad would jump on that every time he spoke, got rid of it in a couple years. Mom would chafe at it because "hey it's just the way he talks, let it go" but now he sighs in relief that he doesn't talk like a retard
@WashedOutGundamPilot I hated being the odd one out as a kid, watching all my friends play halo in their basements while my parents gave me zelda as the edgiest game they would allow. In retrospect, that's exactly how I'd plan my kid's childhood too.
@veff We had games in spurts, it wasn't an all the time thing, but it would show up like a limited engagement in a gacha game. Will probably do a bit unless it's something that fosters brain dev
My kids will have to write most of their own games. Not even kidding.
@veff Some of the coolest ones was just reading stuff w/ dad. He'd latch on to a topic and pull out the encyclopedias and tell us everything he knew about it. It's just like hanging w/ friends, or reading an interesting thread here. We'd read about tanks, or industry, then use that to light a fire and build models or make sprawling battlefields with toys.
I'm not a big fan of games as a load bearing time user for kids, I have a theory that it obliterates their imagination. I think much of the stuff that comes out now sucks, because it's made by people who can't dream. It's just a puree of the stuff they liked as a kid.
@WashedOutGundamPilot You're probably right and my family just has some tisms, but my brother and I would tinker with old unreal engine games, hacking and "modding" by splicing things from one game into another. We only had a single hour of computer time, but boy did we make it last.
My problem throughout childhood was a lack of output. Garage with no tools, living in suburbia sprawl in a crime prone area of the city. We were forced to be cooped up, even if I wanted nothing more than to hike up the mountains. When (if) I get kids of my own, I won't make that same mistake.
@veff @WashedOutGundamPilot ah the suburban isolation, wonder how common that is among the 30 to 20 yo range.
@WashedOutGundamPilot@poa.st yeah, shittest dogs in Hololive. Of course she became retarded.
@GrungeQueef @SuperSnekFriend Haha you need to be a noble, high class paid youtube downloader for proper piracy.
