fatepony* Sperg out over the person who created the ip that a video game is based on so much that you harass anyone who plays it * Harass, directly via quote tweets, replies and mentions, Pikamee for announcing she INTENDS to play the game * Pikamee breaks down, cancels the stream, goes on hiatus, and eventually graduates * Initially say that she deserves it and make up stories about how she said slurs * Say that it was actually right-wing trolls doing the harassing as a psy-op * Deny that any harassing happened, saying that it was just "calm criticism" and "educating" her * Deny that the graduation was because of harassment and was actually planned in advance * Play victim by claiming that the blowback is unjustified despite you being the agitator * Media outlets pick up the story and run with the narrative either downplaying the harassment, denying it altogether, claiming the graduation was planned beforehand, promoting the right-wing psyop conspiracy, and making sure you know that whatever Pikamee got the potential harassment that trans people will get as backlash is much worse * These articles dominate the search results, and the gaslighting campaign on twitter will support these narratives in the future if someone comes asking, so they will be the default narrative to normies
Sometimes I hate being online. I'll turn on Pikamee too after she joins vshojo, but fuck's sake this is exhausting and demoralizing.
Remember CVille? 1/6? GG? Biden's laptop? All the sus shit during the COVID scare? Wikipedo editors do it because they know in one year, the only version of the truth that will exist is Wikipedia's. They might do it for free but they have the last laugh when your coworker/some NPC you're talking to online thinks you're a domestic terrorist after "HMMM, Lemmie look that up on Google real fast".
On the other hand there's a few important ways to counter this. The first is to archive everything; and that's because revising history requires everyone to be in lockstep. Archive.fo rarely deletes but uses shitflare while IA deletes for anyone who whines to them. Archive.fo links are also very easy to spread, which is why many screencaps have these links in them as proof.
This doesn't work as well for videos, and it won't help someone in a kangaroo court trial with a lawyer who gives as many shits as a McDonald's worker who is always "on muh break", but it can remind people what happened.
The second is to show off good habits and to do them even when the retards all around you won't. Don't use Google, archive everything, and make sure to make copies of important posts online.
The third is to obviously build parallel websites that can hide their powerlevel, moreso than say some right/left wing grifter can do (see RationalWiki or a few "right wing wikipedia" attempts).
Remember; goblins like GorillaWarfare have less power when you can build up something contradicting them with archived posts, and they also have to rely on censorship by keeping people from the source. KiwiFarms having no link on it's Wikipedia page when the *chans and Daily Stormer do is 100% deliberate, there is something they really don't want you to see there. There's pretty much no way you're going to be able to infiltrate Wikipedia and Google, but you can make them have less influence and have something to show normies before they can get the Official Version (tm) from Google.
The issue with the truth arbiters is they're way too blatant. GorillaWarfare is extremely notorious for this; namely shit like keeping Chris Chan from having a wikipedia page or even being mentioned in a hit piece page for a website founded because of him.
Furthermore, a pro-Wikipedia janny propaganda piece talked about a catlady whose sole hobby was editing WWII pages on Wikipedia. This is the average Wiki editor, a catlady whose sole purpose in life is dedicated to "the cause" and who will die alone in a nursing home. https://archive.fo/aQoxi
@PhenomX6@fatepony “On the other hand there’s a few important ways to counter this. The first is to archive everything….”
This is like the scheme of doing your own recording when you speak to the media. Like Wikipedia, they have the megaphone, you don’t, effectively no one will ever see the archived copy of the truth or whatever.
@PhenomX6@fatepony Do we have effective samizdat or as I like to call it after the web site name samizdata networks?
Many many reasons that may have had a degree of effectiveness in the USSR which aren’t true here. Like a lack of alternatives.
Or let me fast forward to the only scenario where I see us winning: a preference cascade. Being prepared to capitalize on that does fit into the model of suppressed communications we live under.
