     @foone Is this something like 12" optical disks inside???
     I wasn't aware there was a cartridge Variant. But makes sense for everyone ever handled a 12" optical disk.

     @alex WORM discs are sector-based, so you can write a few sectors and then later write more. The switch just tells the laser not to run at write-intensity

     @vga256 nah. Drives for these big WORM drives are basically impossible to find. They were only used by big companies in the datacenter and they tossed them out long ago

     i've got a sony MO 5 1/4" scsi drive, but i haven't tried using it in decades.
