@Ronnie21093@Meemoo Youtube new add system dynamically splices the adds into the video server side. There is fuck all you can do about that :gura_pain:
@Ronnie21093 yeah it only showed up for one video but it was a bit odd. Several ads were displayed but no video. Seems they are testing new stuff and it got through the cracks
@Meemoo It seems to still be working for me, interestingly enough. I went around clicking a couple of 15+ minute videos and clicked around them and didn't get any ad :zt_think:
@Meemoo@Ronnie21093 Yeah every once in a while one of them kind breaks through but since the adblocker is active it kinda breaks everything. I just F5 and it goes away
@Tamamo@Ronnie21093@Meemoo I was wondering when youtube would pull the same crap twitch does to break adblockers.
Although I guess it's harder for Youtube to completely break them. In Twitch, they simply shove the ad to you instead of the stream, and due to the live nature of streming, you get nothing while the ad is playing (there's an adblock that manages to pick a lower quality version of the stream instead of the ad, but still). In Youtube, since it's most often than not a prerecorded video that you can pause and skip as you like, it's easier to block the ad and just see the rest of the video, even if they embed it directly in the server. But they will try to make the blocking experience the most annoying they can.
@Meemoo@Ronnie21093 They always test their new shit on random people. A family member has the same brower and adblocker but he gets bombarded with nag messages to turn off addblock on youtube while i don't.
