Whats a good distro of linux? :zt_think:
Gonna switch to Linux when the support for windows 10 stops
-
@Suzu @Kerosene @BlinkRape @luithe We have :phear_slackware: and :crux: sirs...
-
@BlinkRape @Kerosene @luithe >implying Arch is not a distro made by and for trannies
-
@Kerosene @luithe doesn't that just leave you with tranny distros like Ubuntu and Linux Mint
-
@luithe Any distro that tries to appeal to the just works (tm) demograhic instead of the autistic one. Immediately disregard anything Arch, Gentoo or NixOS shills tell you.
-
@menherahair @luithe i won't after the conflict ends, if i ever overcome the laziness to switch distros to something that is maintained by people that actually dailydrive the distro
-
@lina @luithe just don't use insane repos like antix
-
@menherahair @luithe i'm paranoid ok?
-
@lina @luithe I thought this has only happened in AUR and npm? Distros don't audit these packages, you need to do it yourself. If the attack came from an official repo it'd be a good reason to never use it again.
-
@menherahair @luithe is it a valid reason to change distros because i wanna avoid slavaukraine attacks until the war is over
-
@luithe whatever the fuck you pick you should just stick with it and learn how it works instead of jumping ship every time something breaks because you followed an internet guide written by a peruvian intern in 2016
-
@luithe i'd recommend looking at it the other way around, choose a desktop environment first. It's the thing that you're gonna be interacting with the most for the usual everyday use. while you can install nearly all of them on any distro it's not all that beginner friendly if your preferred DE isn't packaged with the distro. from there you can pretty much choose whatever as long as it's reasonably modern, and not too niche. Mint is a great starting point for example. The main difference to look out for is arch base for bleeding edge software or debian (Ubuntu) base for a more stable system. prepare for a steep learning curve but know that you can pretty much customize everything to your liking given some time and learning effort!
and try not to distro hop too much. :nostale_altr:
