The number that go in and do one or two titles set to cease distribution in X number of years in order to keep their identities hidden is massive.

And then there's a recent phenomena of amateur labels on FC2, who are essentially just guys approaching random girls and offering them hard cash for a single video shot the very same afternoon and then never communicating again. Probably thousands of girls wind up on an amateur label every year. I hate thinking about it because the existence of this one means that ANYONE can be sucked into this world, even someone who woke up that morning never wanting to be in an adult video and then was suddenly offered 5 grand at a cafe.

The industry is currently seeing a downturn in profits, but in response they're getting more and more "girls off the street" who fit into the second category. Flooding their libraries with new faces until something sticks. I wish I had real data on this but it's apparent from what you see and read on AV blogs. The door is also open for new regulations so maybe that's the deathknell, but I doubt it.
