It is immensely satisfying installing Linux on a Microsoft device!
As for WHY I have a Surface Book 2 running Ubuntu 18.04...
I'll explain in a future video + article!

@hobbsc it's great hardware, have to give them that. The only issue I'm having so far is serious throttling of the GTX 1050.
@Linux4Everyone i ran it on my sp7+ for a while and the only thing that didn't work was the pen. it was a great experience.
@Linux4Everyone I stuck 24.04 on my Surface Go 3 recently after it became completely unusable on Windows 11. It's like a whole new computer. Terrific.
@hedders I love hearing that! Absolutely one of my favorite things about Linux. Microsoft would have you believe that device is destined to be e-waste in the near future. Nope! Perfectly snappy and usable machine still.
@dannycolin Let's call it more of a time-traveling experience.
@Linux4Everyone so you're starting a journey in porting your device to mainline right? ;p
@stepfister I'm getting increasingly cross with Windows. Once I have a few days free, I'm going to move my main desktop to Linux too, I think, probably Zorin OS since I do a lot of gaming.
@hedders @stepfister Zorin is a solid distro. I hope your migration goes well!
@Linux4Everyone @hedders Nice to read. I'm using a surface pro 7+ at work. I can't use my samsung printer with it. Windows has abandonned the support. Ridiculous. It runs fine with linux as network device.
@arraybolt3 The short version is: it's a bit of a time traveling experience for a future video I'm working on. (I started my Linux journey in 2018)
@Linux4Everyone Why 18.04 EOLNLLTS (end-of-life no longer long term support)? :P I mean you can use Ubuntu Pro with it I guess but still...
@arraybolt3 Also, there is gaming involved otherwise I'd just rock a VM. But I do love me some bare metal installs...
@Linux4Everyone ah ok.
@Linux4Everyone I am loving @mobian on my Surface Go 2. #Phosh actually is the best I have tried for being able to handle both tablet mode and keyboard attached "laptop mode". It certainly has come a long way in the past few years.
