Trump opened up Pandora's box. The mainstream conservative position was explicitly post racial before him. Hell, I honestly believed racism would be "over" 20 years ago (before Obama and BLM). He may have been business as usual in many areas, but you can't put the genie back in the bottle. Appealing to America's White population was forbidden, and still is taboo even if that's eroding. I seldom hear my conservative friends being up "Democrats are the real racists" anymore— do you guys?

@BowsacNoodle @SuperSnekFriend The only ones who care about being post-racial are our clientele that are wealthy enough to avoid the downside of diversity.
The "dems are the real racists didja kno they were founded as the...." ones are the guys who tell you they "know plenty of wonderful black people" but if you break it down it's basically:
- the one black family in their subdivision who beat the odds to get a $300k/yr career (their teenagers will revert to the negroid mean)
- Black cashier at his favorite barbecue place (fishing for tips)
- Black friend in high school (when black culture hadn't been rendered utterly sacred by media) -

Unfortunately some of the evangelical types will go into Bible posting a la good Samaritan, but that's its own issue. I have Evangelical friends who have came around, even a Dispensationalist who no longer supports the state of Israel but hopes the jews accept Christ. -

If you're insulated enough, you just see the random stories and cultural events as anomalies rather than the real state of things. -

@BowsacNoodle @bobbala @SuperSnekFriend I'm closer to thinking your statement is boomeresque fantasy of its own, because a black is a blck no matter how smart. Projecting our own mindset and soul upon them is a fantasy from the outset, they're simple a different people with different hearts.
Thousands of years of life and death optimized them for an environment wholly unlike our own, all their instincts point them to excel in a foreign land we want nothing to do with. Pretending there's some good hearted white boys fortuitously born with black skin is the millennial version of boomer-colorblindism

The fact that I can get along fine with the few black people I infrequently get together with doesn't mean we aren't wildly different outside of our overlap. We all know that and it's not a big deal to us though. -

Odds are it's a situation like woggy described where the socioeconomic filter kept out the worst of it. It's not the black dentist that would concern me, but maybe his outer circle. Kids friends and friends of friends would be the issue. Crimes of opportunity with kids who don't have the brains to leave their glock at home when they're trying to go teepee a house. -
