   A while back we had this joint couple revelation while she was updating me on the lolcow news, I asked "wait is any of this funny or is it just trash people gossip?" and she mulled it over

   We realized it's not funny like it used to be. Something about lolcow watching used to be silly and fun, you would see these crazy people do absolutely baffling, ruinous things to themselves and laugh at people's memes and wisecracks about it.

   Maybe we're just growing up but there's something decidedly unfunny today, like people have stopped even trying to be funny about it and have just switched solely to nagging. And nagging isn't fun, even when it's correct.

   Are we alone here? I can't tell if we're fuddy duddies or not, it's just a feeling of malaise about people's low-class horseshit. We have enough fun gossip to chew on just from our local community & family, it's much juicier these days.

     Maybe that's growing up, it reminds me of when I tried playing video games and just threw the controller down after 15 minutes with a feeling of shame and sheepishness

     I haven't outgrown most of my embarrassing likes, but I guess I'm just getting sick of them one by one. I guess that's getting old

     I did find that whole rekita drama distressing because at first blush it sounded like a turning point, where this giant non-governmental surveillance apparatus was moving past its flimsy, unenforcable gentleman's agreement of "don't touch the poop".

     Apparently (IDK my intel's old by now) that whole cop raid was more blamed on jealous cucks or small town gossip - not as scary to healthy people. Aside from that there isn't much of interest now. I log in to see vtuber drama about lefties getting someone fired, I hear about the obese youtuber man lying (?) again (?) while wondering just how he's stuck around in such lofty youtube heights all this time, and it's like........eh? Is there anything that's funny? Anything fun?

     It's like everyone's becoming our dads: When you can't feel mirth or fun you dip into ol' reliable - Anger, and you soak in nothing but news that pisses you off because even if it's a little unpleasant, at least you're feeling SOMETHING.

Null has said the same thing; it was different when cows were obscure or niche, and sending their silliness out into the void to be recorded and laughed at. Now there's a feedback cycle between their output and the audience. Thanks to social media, donation platforms, and the commoditization of e-fame, they're too aware of the people watching them. The presence of observers changes the behavior of the observed (Heisenberg or Jane Goodall, choose your quote source). That's before you get into the asshole a-lawgs who interfere with them directly. There's also a problem that a HUGE number of them got into sexual deviancy over the last few years; trooning out, grooming, porn addiction, and oversharing it all on Discord. It's amazing when the funny weirdo on YouTube with 17 views turns out to have a dark secret... it's not funny the 20th time it happens. And it's even less funny when it all happens over Twitter and Discord, just as a matter of content format.

     @PunishedD I've said he's a prime example of ER doctor syndrome: The guy who works in the ED thinks everyone who owns a trampoline, 4-wheeler, or motorcycle ends up paralyzed or broken, because he sees all the ones that get busted up by them.

     His podcast autoplays once in a while and he sounds beaten down and dead of soul. I wonder if anyone knows how much his whole scene changed its gender breakdown over time. I'd bet it's way more female heavy today than it was 10 years back.

     Maybe that's why nobody's cracking jokes like they used to: The bros have been replaced by their mothers.

     Now, like everything, it's just slop, slop that feeds itself. Ralph, Fuentes, Boogie, etc... they've all monetized and squeezed out nearly all the fame and influence from the slop they produce. Hell, even modern IRL streamers are incentivized to be horrendous in public, and still make more money than I will ever see.

     @poastoak Yeah, it really put a point on their whole hobby in a way. All that moralizing about how they were just watching from the outside kind of fell apart after that. They took a retard and put him under a microscope, exposing every vulnerability for exploitation by people in their midst who didn't adhere to the same rules.

     In the end their 'non interventionist" just sent the guy to hell of their creation.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot I miss the days when the lolcows would draw artworks of their OCs beating up the trolls or throwing spergouts in their bedroom in front of a camera. It sucks we don't have that kind of lolcow anymore, the eccentric ones were the best. Even just quietly observing them was funny. Now it seems all we have are just washed up has-beens that do nothing but talk shit about their trolls on livestreams and reveal themselves to be the shitty people they always were.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot Well, aside from the 2 years of deplatforming, he also has a naturally dull deadpan voice. Now he gets most of his fun when something big happens to one of his recent harassers. Not a lot of new faces, outside of Bossman Jack who still acts like a "pure" unaware cow. As for the gender breakdown, KF is weird in that it's about 60/40 male/female. This is because women naturally hate troons, and the Beauty Parlor is extremely well guarded. I don't know about the overall demo off-site, but the genders seem to silo onto individual sites or around individual cows.

     In the old days of e-drama people used to think troons and paedophiles and coprophiles were just a bunch of isolated weirdos on the internet that were one in a million but now we know that there is in fact government and corporate sponsored groups manufacturing a lot this bullshit, it loses any spontaneity or novelty.
