   Talked to an old mason yesterday and he was complaining that a younger guy joined up and has figured out how to exploit the system, he got some old guy's vacation home to rent and just hasn't paid it and now he's got the old guy by the nuts, because he's struggling to survive, and the boomer is rich, but it's a loss of face if he complains about the money (because he's a rich old man, the young kid is nice but poor).

   Seems funny to hear that the boys are infiltrating and subverting, enjoy the mason gibs

     Meanwhile autists will see this and blue screen because "it's so simple just evict him" as if that's a solution. Soft power groups like this are largely extinct in our culture today but there is an order, a tradition that you must follow as a member. Is it worth destroying your good name for a quarter? With as much money as this guy has that's about what it's worth to him to get that five hundred a month.

     In the mean time, he gains a probably loyal bannerman who can be a more faithful son than his own children turned out. At least everyone else feels like the guy's a good kid, helpful and generous with his own meager resources. I've found good white boys that spend some time in poverty tend to be very solid once they climb out - better than those who'd never felt the deep hunger of a truly empty pantry

     @BroDrillard Kind of, but the fact oldies aren't just okaying this stuff shows we lost it already.

     High trust societys don't demand a nickel and dime for every act of generosity, there's a whole lot of stuff that shouldn't touch a whiff of money when it's inside the family.

     It's a mark of magnanimity to look out for the guys below you. I'd bet the rich old guy was allowed to live somewhere for free for a couple years so he could get on his feet too, converted into a money-making opportunity by default.

     I understand the plight of the young guy, but such moves just further erode whatever little is left of high-trust society.
