I would like it if we got something other than horror themes when these characters get released to the public domain.
Swear to god I’ll be pissed if they make something horror themed around Betty Boop. So much potential can be used with her. Then again with how much the west hates attractive female characters, they’ll likely make her ugly.

@Echigo The only problem with public domain is how little creativity the majority of people have nowadays. People swarm to making horror since it's easy and historically "horror featuring thing you remember" has always been profitable. Most people when seeing public domain only think profit and "we don't have to pay for a license."
Still better than eternally being stuck in copyright hell, but I just sometimes wish that people weren't so dry for ideas when it comes to new things to do.

@Iffine So true. The larger public is just creatively bankrupt. Just that some of them know how to make movies and games and such. Even then fewer of them can’t think of anything truly creative. And that’s how we get indie games that are basically the same as the most popular ones.
