     Or, is there some magical unfair advantage going on (outside of in-group nepotism, which happens regardless across all races and cultures, so that's kind of a wash)?

     @adiz imo one's politics should be based first around the axiomatic sovereignty of your own people as an extended family and religious community and then secondarily around practical advantage. i.e:
     
     "I want a place for people like me to govern ourselves as we would like, not as others would govern us"
     
     rather than
     
     "We should deport brown people because I'd be able to get a job easier"
     
     whether there is a practical advantage to the deportation of others who are not like me is ultimately not the point. I would gladly accept being comparatively poor, as my ancestors were, in order to regain what they had, which is fundamentally spiritual in nature, not practical.

     Every Indian I've ever met has been a medical doctor, every Filipino has been a Toshiba repair technician, every Vietnamese I have met has been a medical receptionist, and I have never met any of the other nationalities I assume they don't exist.

     But on the note of Indians making the most it's not unreasonable to understand, because most I've ever seen are in high paying jobs or gas station.

     I live in the South the only region that matters.

     Nationalism and Protectionism. In the case of Canada, left-wing Nationalism affects a lot of Canadian-US relation policy and trade. In short Canadians really hate Americans and do not wnat their industries overtaken by US. They're really insecure about their national identity :cirno_heh:

     Skilled Work Visas are a more compleicated issue than we might realize. Not because of larbor staturation (it's skilled labor so it's meeting a deficit), the problem is a concept known as brain drain. You get this with software companies sniping other developers (hiring them for higher wages). Essentially all the smart and well educated people in your country leave and go to somewhere else that pays more. As a result the country that educated you and raised you gets nothing and you get paid higher wages which no tax benefit goes back to your country of origin. Poor countries get poorer and rich countries get richer and mroe talent. It's a on going problem with globalism and most economists are aware but don't have a perfect solution for it that would invalidate free trade.

     Like you could apply for a work visa in a lot of places as a skilled worker but it might not make sense to work there. A personal example I'll give is, I'd really like to move to Japan, I have every ability to apply for a Visa, I can even apply for a special ancestry Visa for PR. But I'm not sure I would ever want to work in Japan for a Japanese company, both because the work culture is completely backwards imo compared to western nations, pay is less than western, you have limited promotion opertunities, etc etc etc.

     So Japan has a labor shortage and peoplle are concerned that immigration will cause it to turn into Baltimore maryland or something. And I kind of don't believe that because the places that have shortages require technical skills, you aren't getting a work visa to go work at seven eleven or family mart in Japan.

     Another example is Italy which is a beautiful country, again skilled workers get educated using their state funded universities and programs and then leave for Germany or America or wherever.

     @splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network Canada has laws on the books which stipulate that they cannot sponsor labor for a work visa unless they exhaust all opportunities to find a Canadian worker to fill the role. At least as it pertains to US nationals. @iska@catposter.club

     @splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network My Indian neighbor is an extremely highly educated engineer. His wife is also in a high-level technical field. Very articulate, very cultured folks. Pleasurable to be around. He's always out in his front yard with a telescope checking out celestial bodies and sometimes we hang out.
     
     My only argument against foreigners is the non-reciprocity of work visas. It infuriates me that we have so many foreigners here working on visas yet I would never be able to go to their country to live+work since it's a one-sided relationship. USA lets anyone in, but their respective countries strongly protect their national labor. I'm mostly referring to Europeans, but it could be anyone---India, too. Even Canada. If we had 1:1 agreements in place and I had the same opportunity to go to their country to live/work as they have to come to my country to live/work then it would not bother me. But, I don't blame them nor am I angry at them---I'm angry at my country for allowing this one-sided arrangement (probably at the behest of capital). @iska@catposter.club

     Supply-Demand

     Demand for Doctors, Indians meet demand with aupply. No modifications or external dactors. If Hwyatt people want to get paid more they can also go through 12 years of med school, plus 3 years of residency to do it.

     I have yet to see a single fedi user (on """"this""" side) that has ever achieved anything similar to scope or technicality of education. Everyone wants government enforced discrimination to give them something, and to be honest I have a high suspicion that even in that preferred scenario a vast majority would still be menial workers, laborers etc. Because education would still be 12 years plus residency which most people will not do because it isn't immediate.

     Chinks are okay and turks make good food. But wasrael people are often not mentioned.
