toufic (toufy@mastodon.social)'s status on Sunday, 30-Jun-2024 18:45:20 JST toufic @itsfoss you should only use fish if you know all the side-effects, and agree with their ideology. fish actively challenges POSIX standards, which means most scripts won't work unless they're specifically written for fish, because a lot of shell scripts use `/bin/sh` instead of something like `/usr/bin/env bash`.
for a beginner, it's a horrible idea to set it as the default shell. it's better to use it as the interactive shell, and keep the default to something POSIX compliant.
