I just say I'm a solo practicing attorney, this is a five day trial, and there's no one else to take care of my clients' matters, many of which are pending before this court. I even once got a federal clerk to let me off of federal jury duty without even showing up.
The only time I ever ended up in voir dire was in relation to a dui trial, which would only be a few hours. The state's counsel asked me, knowing I was a lawyer, "if you were on the jury, would you advise them as to the law?" I responded "if there was a question respecting the law and the jury needed direction, I'd suggest we submit the question to the judge and let you and the defense counsel brief and argue it." He immediately dismissed me. 😏Disinformation Purveyor :verified_think: likes this.
