Fag Roland Emmerlich made big action movies retarded with Independence Day, which proved story logic was not even slightly required to have a massive boxoffice smash.
-
@judgedread I didnt even go to Rise of Skywalker and still haven't seen it. This is from the guy that used to win the Star Wars trivia and was called Captain Nerda (instead of Needa).
-
@judgedread @bloggerski I detested that movie day one, this is not hindsight speak, I remember mocking it on the way out of the theatre. But I also hate movies like Fast & Furious so I have a theme I suppose.
It's the same reason I would read lyrics to metal bands and despised all the good time music like Motley Crue and hair bands. I was a Metallica guy reading And Justice for All.

@VikingWays Everyone I saw it with agreed it was incredibly retarded but we all enjoyed it. BTW it was fucking MOBBED opening night. The last time that sort of buzz happened was for The Force Awakens. Opening day has been a graveyard ever since, including for The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker.
Theaters are in big trouble.

@judgedread @petra It was entertaining when I first seen it but it's one of those movies I can't watch again. It's so retarded the movie doesn't know its retarded
-
@bloggerski I'm sure all the jew and niggershines would irritate me much more today.
-
@judgedread Ah, simple minded fun. I miss it.
-
@petra I loved Independence Day when it came out because it was a modern War of the Worlds exploiting the then new perfect digital effects (dogfights are a trivial CG problem so it is packed with action).
But I knew it was retarded. I also wondered why Goldblum's dad was a faggot.

@judgedread @TactlessWookie I haven't seen any of the new ones. That first one, with the nigger stormtrooper; at the time, I was paying attention to the hubbub. All of the White Star Wars fans I knew were skeptical because the Prequels had been so bad, and were not-on-the-list to see it on Opening Day. All of them. Every White fan I personally knew had relegated the new Star Wars to "let's wait and see what other people think of it before we commit".
Every brown Star Wars fan I knew had an entirely different take. "You're just a racist; you don't want to see the movie because they cast an African-American as a stormtrooper." That was the entire counterargument.
That actually became my primary reason for not seeing those movies. Specifically; if they're trying to target brown and wahmans and faggotry as a part of a newer, friendlier, more inclusive and diversitied Star Wars, then they aren't going to put as much effort into either story-telling or "movie experience". If the outcome is Wypipo Be Ebil An Shiet, everything else will be subpar.
Like Boeing in real life.
But my then-hunch was confirmed when the Cast and Crew all got on Twitter and announced that it "wasn't an accident" that the Rebellion were Vibrantly Diverse while the Empire were Straight White Men.
I'm not watching any piece of fiction, and certainly not paying for it, that celebrates the destruction of Western Civilization.
It's the single point I've consistently disagreed with Red Letter Media on. They're very good at naming precise technical details and the failure of the modern studios in making watchable movies, but they're also explicitly deflecting from the reality of why normal Humans don't want to watch Hollywood movies anymore.
Paraphrasing, they will say something about how it's not important that the lead is gay, or the romantic interest is an interracial couple. Specifically stating such, so their opinion is clear.
In reality, it is important that faggotry and race-mixing and too-many-niggers are thrown into every movie. That's a primary reason. People know the Nation and the West are falling, and they don't want to go out and pay for "entertainment" that openly celebrates the destruction of The West.
Lando Calrissian was a sleazy grifting thief. Casting him as a nigger was fine. He didn't need to know how anything in Cloud City actually worked; he probably won the whole place in a lucky deal in a poker game.
Casting a stormtrooper as a nigger broke the believability of the narrative.

@NoDoxGregBrady I had been waiting for episodes 7, 8 and 9 since 1977 so there was no scenario where I was going to skip them, or even delay seeing them and risk spoilers. This factor was largely responsible for the massive boxoffice not only of The Force Awakens but of The Phantom Menace. You had several generations (Boomers and Xers) that were going to see them no matter what.
The dropoff in subsequent episodes was the result of what we all saw.
Red Letter Media can't discuss the causes because Youtube videos are how they make a living. They don't want to end up like Molymeme.

@VikingWays @judgedread I have not seen any of the films after seeing that disgusting excuse of a film where Rey and the niggatroopah were introduced.
Breaks my soul just a little.
-
@TactlessWookie ...and that was the best of the three.
Of course the reason it was the best is he set up all sorts of stuff he'd never be able to pay off even if he had stayed in charge (who are Rey's parents?, why is the force so stronk in her?, who is Snoke?, why did Kylo turn to the dark side?, how did the First Order get so powerful?, what will Luke do next?) and he killed of Han to give it emotional weight, a trick you could only do a few times... and they did, wiping out the original heroes entirely (cokehead Carrie forced their hand in Leia's case).
