     Imagine being an artist, signing up for mastodon.art and then finding out that 80% of the fediverse can’t see the art you’re proud of because they happen to be on an instance the mastodon.art jannies don’t like because that instance doesn’t have a dedicated picoagressions jannie kill squad

     potentially sadder, is that most people joining mastodon.art to share their creations will never know this. Users largely don’t understand federation, and people joining a topic instance are even less likely to.
