     Gun forums. Car forums. Sport forums. Equipment forums. Hobby forums. Quilting forums.

     They’re all insanely irritating and filled with the exact same nonsense as reddit, but nobody really thinks about the old internet anymore, so they blame redditors as if they invented the ‘power tripping obese janny’

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @chainsaw_appreciator @Elfie Seriously though, old internet forums were objectively better because it was just some dude running the site in his basement. Because reddit consolidates every community onto one site, that means that power tripping mods is more of a problem simply because it's easier for power mods to moderate multiple forums at once. This has led to the very common problem of 90% of the top 10% of subreddits being modded by the exact same trannies which is made worse because information has been monopolized on reddit. This wasn't an issue on the same scale as it was in the early 2000's and forum archives prove it. I am a zoomer so admittedly I didn't experience much of it but the feeling in posts wasn't as oppressive as it is now.

     @fishsticks @WashedOutGundamPilot @chainsaw_appreciator @Elfie This. Reddit didn't invent the tranny jannies, but they gave them economies of scale and site-wide monopolies.
     
     The real sin of reddit is it doesn't let subreddits have their own culture any more. None may be in conflict with the Approved Corporate Monoculture. You can be banned for racism or transphobia by site admins or super mods, even if your direct subreddit owner/mods are OK with it. And if those mods don't toe the line your entire subreddit gets banned.
     
     If reddit was just providing the forum hosting for any forum that wanted it, they'd work out fine. But they got so butthurt that the_donald outshone everything else on the site, they had to destroy its last remnants of usefulness.

     On the other hand hobbies and shit that we take for granted today were extremely niche so good luck finding a new home if jrpg.autism.angelfire.net turns out to be a shithole.
