I'm pretty sure France has bigger culture than the Brits, so more likely than not they're going to be influencing you guys. We're not going to speak English, rather French.

This is wrong on so many levels. First off, did you know that kings of England prefer French as a culture and language over English? Richard the Lionheart couldn't speak English and prefer his homeland in Aquitane. Hell that's the whole reason why England wanted to conquer France, because they love the culture.

I think it falls down to which nation is more centralized and had greater noble influence on the state because they held sway on the nation's culture.
