   This is by far the worst thing Nintendo has ever done. Also from what I've seen, Kirby games are still generally available, so I recommend downloading as many of them as possible while you can.

     Yeah, the problem here is that Vimm's Lair has a reputation of being safe and not full of malware and shit. Obviously there will be more options, just not necessarily ones I feel comfortable using.

     @ArdainianRight I never had an issue with malware. Granted, I'm on Linux so that probably changes things. The one red flag you need to avoid is when they don't offer ROMs directly and instead make you install some EXE that installs the ROMs for you.

     This in particular is the kind of shit that gives people good reason to get pissed at Nintendo, because it's not as if they make most of these games readily available anyways. It's one thing if people are pirating current gen stuff, but if you're taking down 20+ year old games you won't even release on VC or something similar you're just being a dick.

     Anyway it would explain their behavior
     But
     They've been punitive in the past for silly things like LetsPlays and whatnot so IP law probably isn't relevant here

     Definitely wouldn't apply here. This is game preservation that doesn't meaningfully affect profits. Nothing current gen, just old ROMs of games Nintendo no longer sells.
