     @sickburnbro this is for very niche cyber/signals stuff, similar to how they'll bring medical professionals in without starting them as 2LTs, and they're probably outside the chain of command
     
     but it's a shit deal for civilian candidates, they want a BS in computer science/engineering plus experience and then you're going to be enlisted making $43k, so, bad pay and no prestige. make them technical O-3s (outside the chain of command) and it's a lot more interesting

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @sickburnbro This is what happens when your academy system churns out nothing but lickspittles for 30 years, with the last 10 or so being mostly homos and obese women. The other thing about USAF is how much historically they have leaned on air guard/reservists to do all their logistics and many of those people have walked away due to mandates and/or DEI exhaustion.

They want niche training for AF laptoppers without having to give up 4 years of their term just to train

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @sickburnbro Maybe its different now, but last time I was around air force the mindset by active duty was that anything that wasn't fast mover jet jockey was considered beneath them, but at the time time it would be unthinkable to let some unwashed army aviation unit fly their own airlift. So unglamorous jobs like airlift, air refueling would get pushed off to ANG squadrons and I bet those units are suffering to get manning now.

     @DemonSixOne @sickburnbro IDK aobut the techs, they're generally in it because they just don't care about a diff. career track, all I've ever known have been pretty ambivalent about life.

     The pilots rise and fall w/ the airline market. They were clawing out w/ the hiring boom, until the vax came down there, then they tried picking up the ANG more, then when the contracts got out they wanted out ASAP, now they're back to hunkering down at their ANG units and getting 150 flight hours a year until hiring restarts

     @DemonSixOne @WashedOutGundamPilot @sickburnbro A friend of mine was a second class cadet (Junior) the year they first admitted females. He said it did not go well. Physical standards were lowered and have been lowered more (for everyone) since then. He returned years later to teach some classes there. Things had only gotten worse.
