Every day we see the news, and tons of horrible, horrible things are happening. Our rights are being destroyed by bigots and corrupted people in power, and we're tired of marching, getting assaulted, hated on, and even arrested.

Those of us who don't directly experience these things are still crying in despair, you know why? Because in online spaces cis people don't give a shit about us; they'd rather not hear anything and just play their wizard game without having to worry about guilt.

Then the worst ones say: who fucking cares? And that feels like we're alone. We have no one to defend us but ourselves. That's precisely the time we need allies.

If you see a trans person suffering online, send them a virtual hug. It may not change much, but at least it makes our pain manageable. Receiving hugs from trans people feels different, because we know we're on the same boat. But you're not.

You're one of the outsiders, and you don't really need to feel bad for our situation. That puts you in a privileged position, and that's precisely why your support matters so much to us. It's the feeling that there's at least one human being who actually cares.
