“Ah, they won’t be able to interfere too much, they’ll be limited to __“
Everyone does that. Germany did it, the russkies did it now, too, thinking that america wouldn’t mobilize entire swathes of equipment out of its armories and force private companies to continue providing services for free.
Nobody talks about the fact that starlink got strongarmed into backing the whole thing, they were lured into providing like, 3,000 dishes for humanitarian purposes, hospitals, etc. And they ended up being handed out to combat units. Then they got pushed for more, then more, then more. I’m not sure if they’re even paid, I’d heard that they got jack shit for the first few months, it wasn’t until they went public and said they couldn’t afford to keep providing all that service for free that the gov begrudgingly offered to pay them cost. How many other resource manufacturers are in a similar position? How much can the company strongarm into working for free?
Everyone just keeps thinking the US gov is going to play by some kind of rule set, that they are these predictable, sane statesman, and they’re hysterical retards.

BT (eltigre@poa.st)'s status on Friday, 24-Feb-2023 08:52:32 JST BT @professionalbigot69 @weaf @WashedOutGundamPilot France was already so heavily infiltrated there was no hope of that working. Oddly enough the USSR was more likely to sign treaties with Germany (even if everyone knew these could only ever be temporary) than France.
A shame since their government was so thoroughly subverted but there was a core of French people willing to die for Europe, to the extent that SS Charlemagne ended up being one of the last stands against bolshevism in Berlin.Weaf :jv::nv: likes this. -

I just remember cringing at how peacable the germans were, they really thought that american leaders would heed their non-interventionist charges.
Hell, I think the japs were dumb enough to think pearl harbor would make the us throw its hands up and let them have the pacific. Complete retardation

I think the big issue is American history is constantly about achieving victory in the context of a total war, and Americans are eager to fight wars this way because they've never had to suffer the consequences of a total war on their territory.
