     Indeed, very true. The ideas of balance and proportion are central to wisdom.
     
     The Buddhists talks about the "middle path" which is a similar idea.
     
     Navigating down the middle of the inevitable human false dichotomies...

     Appetitive stuff reflects appetites and desires.
     
     It really depends on how the stuff is used...
     
     Sex can be wholesome; promiscuity and manipulation are not.
     
     Wholesome means functional and healthy stuff, so it is not as exciting as the appetitive stuff on the surface.
     
     Plato refers to philosophy as the pursuit of wisdom, and I see wisdom as the ultimate wholesomeness (and evasive at times).

     When you think about it, that would include justice and temperance. I think those are wholesome too. We have much to choose from to show what is wholesome.

     Probably granular. I distinguish between art and entertainment although there is overlap.
     
     For example, DEICIDE is more on the art side of the spectrum the CANNIBAL CORPSE or PANTERA (eww).

     Like, appetitive stuff is things like food, sex, maybe dreams for sleep? Maybe entertainment for a distraction?
     
     Transcendent stuff is closer to the wholesome stuff we need... could be philosophy, some art, family?

     It is a different kind of exciting.
     
     Appetitive stuff is surface exciting.
     
     The wholesome stuff is appealing at a level closer to transcendence.
     
     Most of what people obsess about is a distraction/deflection from what they need, not a fulfillment of it.

     People keep looking for excitement, but it lets them down.
     
     The wholesome lets people get over their desires and get on to real life.

     I think I can get onboard with Prude Pride. Sex is another addiction, and sexing stuff up is more manipulation.

     @amerika It would seem so. I think that I would prefer to seek wisdom than to appease people, especially when I don't think they can be pleased or when they demand full compliance with their viewpoint. It is never enough.
