     @sun Yeah. That’s what I mean.

     In China there were many stories of children dying of heavy metal poisoning because the rice field was downriver from a battery factory.

     The cost to extract rare earths and build batteries and solar panels etc is incredibly heavy on the environment, and it’s not being factored in when people think about the impact of new energy because it’s someone else’s child paying for it.

     @istvan from power usage they are better but maybe not better for the environment when you factor in mining for rare earth metals etc.

     They let you feel virtuous about your low water bill because you secretly sneak out each night to take a massive shit in your neighbor’s yard.
